Local Disasters
The most common local disaster
is the family fire. Every day, fires leave families homeless and devastated. When tragedy
strikes, the South Central Connecticut Red Cross offers to provide for victims'
immediate needs, such as clothing, food, emergency shelter and mental
health. |
State
/ Regional / National Disasters
As
a disaster volunteer you can participate in the Red Cross mutual aid
program, DSHR (Disaster Services Human Resources). Train locally and
prepare to assist other chapters in
Connecticut, Northeast, or anywhere in the United States. Red Cross will fund
your travel expenses. |
|
Disaster
Assistance
All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible
through the contributions of time and money from the American people. |

| If you have
been affected by a disaster, this website provides a way for you to
register yourself as “safe and well.” From a list of standard
messages, you can select those that you want to communicate to your
family members, letting them know of your well-being. Concerned
family and friends can search the list of those who have registered
themselves as “safe and well.” |
