Workplace Training

American Red Cross programs for your workplace provide the latest in lifesaving and safety instruction. Build the program that works for your business using our modular curriculum. Choose one of our core courses, CPR-Adult or Standard First Aid with CPR/AED-Adult. Then add a Supplemental Module such as Ergonomics; Slips, Trips, and Falls; Back Injury Prevention; or Workplace Violence Awareness. 

CPR—Adult
Purpose:
Train lay responders to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations and to recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in adults.
Length: 4 hours

CPR/AED—Adult
Purpose:
Train lay responders to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations and to recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in adults.  Identify the general steps for the use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED). Identify precautions when using an AED.  Demonstrate how to use an AED.
Length: 4.5 hours

Standard First Aid with CPR—Adult
Purpose:
Train lay responders to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations and to recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in adults. Provide the lay responder with the knowledge and skills necessary in an emergency to help sustain life and to minimize pain and the consequences of injury or sudden illness until professional medical help arrives.
Length: 7 hours

AED—Adult
Purpose:
To teach lay responders the skills and knowledge needed to provide care for victims of sudden cardiac arrest through the safe use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Prerequisites:
Current American Red Cross CPR—Adult certificate or equivalent that has been issued within 1 year of the course completion.
Length: 2 hours

Standard First Aid
Purpose:
To teach lay responders the knowledge and skills necessary to give care in an emergency, help sustain life and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until medical help arrives.
Length: 3.5 hours

CPR—Child and Infant
Purpose:
Train lay responders to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations and to recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in infants and children.
Length: 4.5 hours

Injury Control Modules (1 hour each)
Focusing on common causes of worksite injuries and key health risks, these one-hour awareness-level modules highlight risks and promote prevention. Self-assessments help employees recognize risky habits. Demonstrations and lively discussions reinforce practical prevention tips. Modules include: Ergonomics; Slips, Trips and Falls; Back Injury Prevention; Workplace Violence Awareness; Managing Stress; and Your Heart Matters.
Bloodborne Pathogens - Preventing Disease Transmission (2 hours)
A training module for employers and employees who, while on the job, may be exposed to blood or other body fluids that could cause infection. Employers can offer this program as part of their compliance with OSHA regulations. Available in English and Spanish. Click here for more information.
